PLOT
this year marks not only the centenary of the games, it's also a year in which there will be a special quarter quell; tributes will be picked from all citizens ages 21 and up, including the existing pool of victors. think that's all? think again. as president snow claims it's his last year ruling panem, he wants to go out with a bang and every district will have six tributes - three male, three female - competing in an arena bigger than ever seen before. during the 74th hunger games president snow made sure that no one will pull tricks on him again, as he chose to kill off the two remaining tributes rather than to let them win together. as he reminds the tributes every year, tricks will not be rewarded, but will result in your death.
     important keynotes:
  • all characters in this roleplay will be tributes for the 100th hunger games
  • katniss everdeen and peeta mellark were killed at the end of the 74th hunger games. their deaths didn't result in a riot like haymitch had hoped, instead it resulted in more obedience and a revolution never happened.
  • during the 75th hunger games they still reaped from the existing pool of victors
  • because we don't want to exclude anyone, we won't be accepting canon characters - you may use the fcs of the actors, however.

  • RULES/GUIDELINES
  • all the standard rules of roleplay apply, don't be a jerk and don't blur the lines. ic drama is more than welcome, naturally, but keep it at that. because ooc communication is an important part to keep this comm going we'll be taking these claims seriously, so please don't hesitate to come to us if you find someone's doing this.

  • writing is an essential part of this roleplay and most scenes will be public. you may also post open scenes on the fp to keep communication going. if you want quick interaction you can ask for a custom or post an open conversation starter on the fp. comments will be taken as in person.

  • as this isn't your average community there will be no intros, instead we ask that within a week of joining you post anything, whether that's a narrative, a conversation starter or an open scene. we will be asking you to send a link of this to our dropbox so we can keep track.

  • once characters enter the arena things will rely more on writing than commenting, which is why we'll have a capitol custom in which you can chat about the games as if your character is a member of the capitol. this way we can still have fun with what happens in the arena.

  • no matter at what point of the games we're at, you're always more than welcome to write narratives and scenes about things that don't take place in the arena or during the hunger games at all.
  • all injuries and alliances formed have to be submitted to us through our dropbox, every week we'll be posting a summary of what happened in the arena.

  • note that for the better part this is a community where things happen organically, unless your character is a victor they won't know anyone from other districts (and only then it's when they're also victors). obviously, you may create lines with the tributes from your character's district, but it's not required.

  • in order to track activity, we ask that by the end of the month you've linked us to a scene/narrative you've participated in that month - if it's private, open it for us to to see until we sign off on your activity.

  • if you've been selected during our raffle, we'll ask that the starter to the scene gets posted in the subcomm within a week by either sides of the fight and that the other party replies to it within a week of its posting. we know that could sound as demanding, but it's a pivotal plot point and we need to know whether or not both people are still with us. if one of the parties seems to have died off and hasn't posted/replied within the allotted time schedule they'll be removed and the other party's name will be added twice to the next raffle.

  • your friends list must be updated every two weeks.

  • BEFORE APPLYING
    • your journal can be ooc or ic, but make sure their first name is their namefield so that it's easy to tell who is who. this is also why we won't be allowing doubles on names.
    • in order to join you must have a bio for your character of some sorts. this can be a fully written bio, a blurb or bulletpoints, but make sure it involves the following information: their age, which district they're from, if they're a career, if they're a victor and which year (note they would've been 18 or younger), their skills.
    • make sure your pb is within +/- 5 years of your character's age, we won't be a pain about a year outside of that but keep it realistic!
    • add us to your examples. examples can be anything you wish; a scene, a narrative, an update with words of any form. one or two examples should suffice.

    WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE THE ARENA?
before the tributes get thrown into the arena we'll be focusing on all the other aspects of the hunger games. this means you can write narratives about their reaping, they'll be showing off their skills (and we'll all vote to give them a rating to make things fair), they'll be giving their interviews which you can write an update/narrative about and they can connect with the other tributes and form alliances. because we want to give everyone the time to do this, we won't be starting in the arena for another week and a half. members who join once the arena activites have started are still more than welcome to write these things.

    WHAT HAPPENS IN THE ARENA?
once all the characters have entered the arena we'll be playing gamemakers, which means we'll be rolling the dice on who gets killed by whomst and what special events happen in the arena. when it's time we'll be posting a full description of the arena and what characters will be able to find in the arena. we'll also be putting all the names of the tributes in a random generator and the names that roll out of there will receive a comment in their screened post letting them know they've been selected and whether or not they're the one getting killed. then it's up to the two of them (or more if people are in an alliance) to start a public scene in our designated subcomm. this is to make sure one person doesn't kill their way through the comm without anyone else getting to be any part of it, it's also make sure everyone's aware of what's going down in the arena. because we do want to keep things realistic, careers will be entered twice into the generator - however, we'll make sure that everyone gets to be a part of it. if your character isn't the kind to kill but gets selected to, it's up to you to decide how it happen - it could be an accident, or self defense with a crippling amount of guilt to follow. basically, get creative with it! of course this isn't all that will happen in the arena, you may post open scenes in the subcomm where your character has a run in with another. they can become hurt, form alliances, etc. the only thing that is up to us is the killing, so with everything else you can have as much fun as possible.

    ETC
scenes may be posted in the subcomm as open to anyone to reply to or closed to certain people - this is required for deaths, but optional for everything else. please note that if something important happens it's has to be posted in the subcommm so that everyone's aware of it and it can be talked about in the capitol custom. the forming of an alliance or someone getting hurt are things we count as important. if it happens in a scene that was private, we ask that you open it to the public and link to it in the subcomm, or you can paste the replies in which the important thing happens into a new post.
general chats you can also post in the subcomm with whatever you'd like to have your character chat about, i.e. "are you nervous for your scores", "do you think it'll really be snow's last year?", etc. it's possible to post backdated chats (especially when we've already started in the arena) just make sure to put it in the title of the post. note that comments are all face to face, but of course you can suspend reality to put the two characters in the same room.
